Q. What do I do if I have questions or concerns about my child’s IEP, instruction, or if I have other questions regarding my child’s education?
A. All students who have IEPs are general education students first. Just as with all students, the classroom teacher is the first point of contact. If the questions are related to IEP implementation, then please contact the student’s special education “contact” teacher. This is the special education teacher who typically attends the ARD meetings and is responsible for the IEP case management and support to the student’s teachers.
If there are still questions or concerns after communicating with the teachers, then please contact the campus assistant principal, and after that, the principal. The campus principal is the instructional leader for the school and is responsible for instruction for each student and for insuring the implementation of the IEP.
Q. What do I do if I have questions about my child’s special education evaluation?
A. Please contact the campus diagnostician, or if your child receives only speech/language services, contact the campus speech-language pathologist.
Q. What do I do if I think that my child needs a special education evaluation?
A. Additional information can be found in the AISD Student Code of Conduct, accessible through the AISD home page and then “Parent” link. Please contact the campus counselor with any questions that you have.
